Do you have a licensing deal with WotC to use their images?

Hrothgar’s Hoard does not use images from WotC on their products. Images above are from either Diesel LaForce or Charles Urbach. The D&D ampersand was used on books I made for my personal collection and is not available for sale as it looks on this page (a normal ampersand or one drawn by a backer could be used) because of trademark issues.

Can I send you an image to engrave?

Short answer: Yes, you can.

Long answer: You must either have the copyright to any image you send to me or the image needs to be in the public domain.

Even longer answer: In addition to the above, the image in question needs to be black and white only (no greyscale) and should have good contrast. If there is a lot of black, the final image will reflect that. Feel free to send me a message with questions about this.

Can I get DCC or another system design on the book covers?

If all you want is for the book cover to read “The Book of Lost Spells”, for example (a manual produced by Frog God Games), then there is no problem. I can engrave any title with any font on the cover and be withing copyright laws. If, however, you want a replica of the Dungeon Crawl Classics hardback cover engraved on the manual, you will first need to get permission from the company to have this done. Some companies are fine with this (FGG has even sent me images of theirs that they are fine with me using), while others may want compensation for their intellectual property. So the answer is that it depends. Best thing to do is to send the company in question an email saying that you would like to have something engraved on a book cover that replicates a product they own rights to and ask if that would be OK for me to reproduce. It would be even better if they send you a file with the image that they approve for use.

When you say that a journal has "40 pages" or "160 pages" is that counting front and back?

Yes, that is counting front and back of the page. The paper that is used, however, is good 80lb+ stock drawing paper. You will be able to write or draw on both front and back of each page.

Can I order more than one book?

Yes. At the end of the project, I will be using BackerKit as an order management program. If you haven’t used Backerkit before, it allows projects from KS to essentially set up a “Shopping Cart” that will allow you to choose whatever you want in whatever quantity you want. You can either pledge enough prior to the project to cover your projected order, or you can wait until I send out the Backerkit survey before making a final decision. You will be able to increase your pledge at that time to cover extras that you order.

I have a great idea on how to improve your project! Can I send you a message and have you change things on your KS page?

I love ideas. Ideas are great. I’ve taken lots of ideas from backers in the past to make changes. But please, don’t just send me a message with your great idea.

Instead, post your idea on the Comments section. This will increase community involvement and maybe someone else has a twist on your idea to make it even better.

Understand, however, that there may be limits to what can be done. Some ideas start off as great, but don’t really work with the final product. I’m open to ideas, but there will be limits as to what is finally implemented.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
